Suicide blast in Pakistan's Swat Valley kills 10
    Buffalo Breeze
    Saturday 13th March, 2010
    (IANS)

At least 10 people were killed and 37 injured when a suicide bomber targeted a security forces' check post in Pakistan's northwestern Swat Valley Saturday, police said.

The suicide bomber rammed his vehicle into a check post in Swat's biggest town of Mingora, killing 10 people on the spot and injuring 37, Geo news said.

The checkpost caught fire and thick smoke could be seen was billowing from the area.

At least 10 kg of explosives were used in the blast.

The bombing comes a day after twin suicide blasts in Lahore claimed 57 lives and injured 136.

Thousands of people have died in dozens of suicide attacks on military and civilian targets since 2007, when the Islamist insurgents started to openly challenge the government and tried to impose Taliban-styled Islamic rule in certain areas of the

    northwestern region.
